Lettuce leaf basil is a popular Italian variety, a large leafed variety of Sweet Basil and one of the most productive of all basils with very large, crinkled and highly aromatic leaves. The sweet basil leaves are not as strong as other basils and have been described as having a clove and minty taste or alternatively a mild spicy, peppery taste.
