Cleome 'Rose Queen' Cleome hassleriana

This is a beautiful variety with deep rose-pink flowers that fade to pale pink, creating a two-tone effect. Cleome is a popular heirloom flower that attracts hummingbirds. Originally from the West Indies, it has been grown in English gardens since 1817.  Avoid the thorns along the stems. Deer resistant. Grows to a height of 4'. In Kenya and other parts of Eastern Africa the leaves are parboiled and eaten as a green (see pic).
