Flora
This perennial herb is easy to grow as its seeds germinate without stratification (cold-treatment). A vigorous grower, echinacea can reach 4 feet in flower with dozens of beautiful pink/purple blossoms arising from a mound of dark green leaves. Flowers usually emerge the second year and hold well in bouquets. Highly attractive to beneficial insects, echinacea is one of the flowers most visited by butterflies in the garden. Aerial parts and roots are used medicinally to support the immune system, and simply chewing on pieces of their central cone will make the mouth tingle. FLA
