Sierra is a fantastic summer lettuce with possibly the best bolt resistance of any we have ever grown. It is a large Batavian, or French, crisphead type with a well-blanched crunchy central head that is somewhat akin to an iceberg, just with much better flavor. Does not fare well in really cold weather, as the thick juicy midribs are prone to freezing. SSF
