This venerable heirloom bright to the Greeks from the Assyrians and the Babalonians long ago and now celebrated throughout Italy for its mild flavor.  A very pretty elongated red onion also known as “torpedo” for it’s distinctive shape.  The unique shape also has practical applications in the kitchen, being easier to chop as it only rolls in one direction, rather than every which way like typical round onions.  Safety First!  Excellent sweet, pungent flavor.  Try it and you’ll see!
