I have had a fondness for growing lots and lots of zinnias for decades. Before starting Siskiyou Seeds I used to grow Zinnia seed on contract for other organic seed companies and have the opportunity to grow large populations of different varieties which affords you the chance to see unique 1 in a 1000 phenotypes (aka sports). We have a number of populations that are mixes of colors and petal types including the Cactus Mix, the Dreamin' Mix, and the Mega Diversity mix, along with single color versions if that's your thing. Crazy Legs is a novel release of a highly unique sport isolated and then stabilized over many years of selection from the Cactus mix. We have a few more like this in the works.

Zinnia, Tidepool Mix Selection

This year we are adding the Tidepool Mix to this family. Named for its likeness to sea anemone, Tidepool is the result of growing a large population of the Cactus Mix along with the Dreamin' Mix where they were able to cross pollinate and combine to create all new, never seen before strains. In order to narrow it in to the most spectacular variants, we invited participants in our 2023 Fall Seed Academy to help select their favorite specimens from a large planting. Please remember that as a cross pollinated crop that the resulting progeny with exhibit a diversity of traits, but the potential for something amazing is there for sure!!!
